A Cutting Edge Sewing Instruction and Engineering Report Program

SewSpec was originally written in August 1993. Berkline was the first company to purchase the software and it has been in continuous use since October 1993. Klaussner purchased the software in August 1995. StyleCraft purchased the software in October 1997. A'cad Solutions started a complete rewrite of the software in August 2003. Lane Action purchased SewSpec 2.0 in November 2003. StyleCraft requested updates to the software in June 2005. Berkline requested updates to the software in June 2006.

Executive Overview

SewSpec program was written to allow Product Development Personnel and Sewing Engineers to create a single drawing document for sewing upholstered furniture. Using Sewing Cut Files the personnel can create accurate drawings that show –

Upholstery Material Pieces and Raw Materials arranged in groups to be sewn together

Sewing Operations to be performed on each piece

Sewing Instruction Notes listing the steps required to sew the grouped pieces together

Bill of Material list of all pieces with summaries by material type & exportable data

Bill of Material and Raw Material pieces added to drawing

Report of Sewing Operations with Sewing Inches, Raw Materials & Stitch types

Engineering Data output to text format file for use by main frame database system

Program Benefits

Learn the complete drawing system in less than 1 day

Create finished drawings in 1 to 4 hours after a few weeks of use

Create a single source document including reports

Easy to use by Product Development Personnel and Sewing Engineers

Simple system to add or change upholstery pieces, raw material pieces and sewing operations

Easy to create, add, modify or delete Sewing Instruction Notes

Create accurate Bill of Material of all Upholstery Material pieces

Automatically create ASCII output file from Bill of Material for export to other programs

Eliminate the task of manually calculating total Sewing Inches and Sewing Operations

Create accurate Report of Sewing Inches, Operations, Raw Materials & Stitch Types
